A True Friend

This tutorial was made using PSP9. A working knowledge of PSP is assumed.

Supplies Needed
Up to 4 tubes from same artist.
I am using the art of
Suzanne Woolcott which I purchased from her web site.
BP_template52 made by me. HERE,

EBDmask52 HERE

Filters Unlimited

EyeCandy4-gradient glow

Xenofex-crumple (optional)

Font used is CACpinafore

Let's Begin

In PSP open the BP_template52. Type Shift and d, to duplicate. Delete the original template. Delete preview and tou layers. Open palette layers. You will be working from there a bit. I will also use the letters
ipl when referring to palette layers.
Layers - Create a new raster layer. Flood fill wth a color from your tubes. I chose one of the pink shades. In palette layers move this layer to just one spot above the white background layer. Apply EBDmask52. Layers - Merge - Merge group. Ipl right click the mask layer and duplicate. Image - Rotate - Free rotate - Left at 90 degrees. Using the Raster Deform tool move the sides outward and the top and bottom inward. This should give you the plaid effect. See my tag. Reduce opacity to 60%.

Open a new image, size 500 x 500. Make a striped paper using 2 differnt colors from your tubes and make a third stripe black. Make each stripe slightly thinner than the other with the black being the thinnest. Fill the inage with the stripes and merge them together. Use your warp brush and slightly play with some of the lines. Nothing too drastic. Now go to Effects - PlugIns - Xenofex - Crumple. Set crumple size and force at 10. This will make your paper slightly smaller than your image frame so just stretch it out with the raster deform tool.

Back to the template. Ipl click on the first frame background. Selections - Float - Defloat - Layers - New Raster layer. In the foreground color palette, under the pattern tab, locate the striped paper. You decide on the size. Flood fill the frame background. Selections - Select none. Delete the original frame background layer. Repeat these steps with the other three frame backgrounds. (optional)Slightly change the fill size with each frame background.

For the frames, make a black gradient in color palette. Click on a frame, Selections - Float - Defloat - Layers - New Raster layer. Fill with the gradient. Delete the original frame. Use the magic wand to click inside the frame. Selections - Modify - Expand - by 4. Paste, as a new layer, one of your tubes. Center in the frame. Selections - Invert - Delete. Selections - Select none. Add a drop shadow to the tube and the frame. H & V = 2. Opacity = 85. Blur = 6. Color is black. Repeat these steps with the other 3 frames.

For the flowers, hearts, heart backgrounds, and curved text preform these same steps. Selections - Float - Defloat - Layers - New Raster layer. Flood fill with color of choice. Selections - Select none. Delete the original layers.
     Add a drop shadow to all but the hearts. H & V = 1. Opacity = 85. Blur = 3. Color is black. For each of the the hearts add a inner bevel. Settings: Bevel #1. Width = 2. Smoothness = 5. Depth = 1. Ambeince = -5. Shininess = 0.

For the Friendship text. Selections - Float - Defloat - Layers - New Raster layer. Flood fill with color of choice. Selections - Select none. Delete the original layers.
(optional) Plug Ins - Filters Unlimited - Paper Textures - Filter paper - Intensity = 128. Lightness = 74.
Inner Bevel - Settings: Bevel #2. Width = 5. Smoothness = 10. Depth = 2. Ambeince = -2. Shininess = 0. Apply a black gradient glow. Now a drop shadow. H & V = 2. Opacity = 85. Blur = 6. Color is black.

Layers - Merge - Merge visible.

For the name text I used the font CACpinafore size 42. Background color is black. Add an off white gradient glow and same drop shadow used last.
