Love is Like a Butterfly

This tutorial was written using PSP9. A working knowledge of PSP is assumed.

Supplies Needed

Tube of choice. (One with a close up helps)
I am using the amazing art of
Maigan Lynn, which I purchased from CDO.

BP_template168, made by me. HERE

Plug In Filter :  Richard Rosenman - Smart De-Interlacer Here

Background paper of choice

MontisCircle Mask  Here   (11th one down)

Font of choice

NOTE: These instructions are for the tube and supplies I used. If you are using something different, you may need to make some adjustments to some settings.

* IPL = In Palette Layers

Let's Begin

Open template in psp. Duplicate and delete the original. IPL, delete the credit layer and the shadow layers.

Now, let's start at the bottom and work our way up.
Click on the scallop circle. I decided to leave it black, so just add a drop shadow. H & V = 2. Opacity = 75. Blur = 6. Color is black.

***
Click on the bg circle. Selections - Select All - Float - Defloat. Add a new Raster Layer. Fill with either a paper of choice, or a color that will compliment your tube. Selections - Modify - Expand - by 1. New Raster Layer, fill with black. Select None. IPL, delete the original bg circle and move the black layer below the paper layer. Still on the black layer, Adjust - Softness - Soften.

***

Follow these next steps for all three of the frames.

Make a gradient color. Foreground color is 802c79, and background color is d1a2da. In Foreground click the gradient tab. Style = Linear. Angle = 45. Repeats = 4.

Click on the rectangle frame. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with gradient color. Select None.
Click the white frame trim and add a drop shadow. H & V = 0. Opacity = 80. Blur = 6. Color is black. Duplicate if you want a darker shadow.
Click the large rectangle. I left this black and added the same drop shadow I used for the scalloped circle. Repeat for the other two frames.

While you still have the purple gradient, click the banner layer. Select All - float - defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with the gradient color. Select none. IPL, delete the original banner layer. Leave the rest of the banner layers as is.

***
Make a new gradient color.

Foreground color is 46b7d1, and background color is 69d9d5. In the foreground gradient tab keep settings the same, but make repeats 7.

Click on the rectangle frame fill layer. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with new gradient color. Keep selected. Effects - PlugIns - Richard Rosenman - Smart De-Interlacer. Settings: Field = Upper Field. Action = Alpha Paintout. Paintout color is 802c79. Custom Parameters = leave all at 0. Select None. IPL, delete the original rectangle frame fill layer.

Click on the oval frame fill. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with the same background paper used for the lg circle fill. Keep selected. Paste, as a new layer, your tube. Center it in the oval frame. Resize to your liking. Selections - Invert. Delete. Give tube a drop shadow. H & V = 1. Opacity = 50. Blur = 6. Color is black. IPL,  Delete the original oval fill layer.

Repeat these steps for the square fill layer, only be sure to use a close up of your tube. (Because my closeup filled the frame, I did not do the bg paper).

***
Click on flower1. I kept mine black. Give it a drop shadow. H & V = 0. Opacity = 75. Blur = 6. Color is black.
Now click the flower 1 fill. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with this color 802c79. Effects - Textures - Weave. Settings: Gap size = 2. Width = 8. Opacity = 1. Weave color is white. Gap color is cfa0d8. Check fill gaps. IPL, delete original flower fill. Right click flower1 and merge down with the new fill layer. Give flower a drop shadow.  H & V = 2. Opacity = 75. Blur = 6. Color is black.

Repeat these steps for flower2, except I left the fill color the same. The texture gap color is 802c79.

For the flower's center layer, I replaced the color with a small pearl. You can do the same, or simply fill with a color of choice.

***
Click on Butterfly 1. Keep it black and add drop shadow. H & V = 0. Opacity = 75. Blur = 6. Color is black.
Click the butterfly1 fill.  Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with this color 69d9d5. Adjust - Add noise - set to 50. IPL, delete the original fill layer. Right click butterfly1 layer and merge down with the new fill layer. Add a drop shadow.  H & V = 2. Opacity = 75. Blur = 6. Color is black.

Repeat these steps for Butterfly2, except make the fill color cfa0d8.

***
As for the text. I liked it the way it was, and so left it alone.

I placed a small black bow at the top of my tag. You may want to do the same, or add any other elements of your choice.

***
IPL, hide the white background layer. Right click any other layer and merge visible. Resize your tag to your choice, or leave as is. I resized mine down to 500 pixels for the width. Unhide the white background layer. Add a new Raster layer and have it placed just above the white layer. Fill with a color from your tag. I used 802c79.
Apply Monti'sCircle mask. Layers - Merge Group. Re-size the mask layer down to 500 pixels. Reduce opacity to 60.
Merge all layers. Use your crop tool to crop off the excess sides.

All that's left is to add proper copyright info and your name. Save
