rd fade mask HERE

Font of choice. I used MeaCulpa

NOTE: This tutorial is written for the supplies I used. If you are using something different, you may need to make some adjustments.

IPL = In Palette Layers

Remember:: After filling a template layer, be sure to delete the original layer.
Also delete shadow layers, unless you just want to use them.

Let's begin.

Open template and supplies in PSP. Duplicate the template and delete original.

Click on the white background layer. Create a new raster layer and fill with this color, 85bdba. Apply the rd mask. Layers - Merge - Merge group. Adjust - Add/Remove noise. Add noise. Settings: Check Gaussian and Monochrome. Set noise to 30.

Open your color palette and click the pattern tab. Select the yellow print paper from my supplies. Set angle to 0 and scale to 50.
Click on the circle layer. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with the yellow print.
Selections - Modify - Expand - by 2. New Raster Layer. Fill with this color, c00000. Select none. Give red circle a drop shadow. H & V = 1. Opacity = 85. Blur = 5. Color is black. IPL, move the red layer below the yellow.

Click on the circle stitches. I chose to leave mine black and simply added a drop shadow. H & V = 1. Opacity = 50. Blur = 4. Color is black.

In your color palette under the pattern tab, select the red paper. Change scale setting to 35.
Click on the xo circle. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with the red paper. Select none.
Go to Effects - 3D Effects - Inner Bevel. Settings: Bevel #2. Width = 30. Smooth = 15. Depth = 3. Ambience and Shininess = 0.
Add same drop shadow you used for the  circle stitches.

Now click on the row of small hearts. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with the same red paper. Select none.
Give the row of hearts the same bevel effect you just used for the xo's.
Give the hearts stitches the same drop shadow you used for the circle stitches.

Click on the two big hearts.  Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with the red paper. Select none. Apply the same bevel effect you used for the xo's.

In your color palette, click the pattern tag and this time select the white crystal paper. Change the scale setting to 75.

Click on the two white hearts. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with the crystal paper. Select none. Give them an inner bevel. Settings: Bevel #2. Width = 8. Smoothness = 15. Depth = 1. Ambience and shininess = 0. Add a drop shadow. H & V = 0. Opacity = 100. Blur = 4. Color is black.

Give the stitches the same drop shadow. IPL, merge stitches down to the white hearts.
Now, right click the white hearts and merge down to the red.

Resize the two merged hearts down to 75%. Mirror. Place them to the right of the frame. (see my tag) Give them a drop shadow. H & V = 1. Opacity = 90. Blur = 6. Color is black.

Click on slat 1. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with this color, 3185b9. Go to Effects - Texture - Blinds. Settings: Width = 4. Opacity = 100. Check horizontal. Color is 18425b.
I chose to leave the bg to slat 1 white. Then gave it a drop shadow. H & V = 2. Opacity = 2. Blur = 6. Color is black.

Slat 2 is about the same, but a few changes. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with this color, c00000. Go to Effects - Texture - Blinds. Settings: Width = 4. Opacity = 100. Check horizontal. Color is d40906.
Copy the white bg from slat 1. Move it down to replace the bg for slat 2.
Give the stitches on slat 2, the same drop shadow you used for the other stitches.
Paste, as a new layer, your full tube. I resized mine down to 70%. Add this drop shadow. H & V = 1. Opacity = 50. Blur = 6. Color is black. Move this tube to the left of the frame. IPL, move it below the row of hearts. (see my tag)

Open your color palette and make a gradient color. Foreground is a6ded9, and background is 366562. In Foreground click the gradient tab. Settings: Style = Sunburst. Angle and Repeats = 0. H & V = 50.

Use your magic wand to click inside the frame fill. New Raster Layer. Fill with the gradient color you just made.
I chose to keep the frame white, and to keep the shadow layer.

Paste, as a new layer, the medium size tube. Mirror it. Resize down to 90%. Use your rectangle selection tool to encircle the whole head. Put the bottom of the rectangle at the upper edge of the bottom of the frame. Selections - Invert. Delete. Select None.
Here is a sample image of what I'm trying to explain.

Duplicate your tube. Give the original a drop shadow. H & V = 1. Opacity = 60. Blur = 6. Color is black. Now change the Blend Mode to Luminance. Erase the shadow that spilled onto the frame.
Click on the tube copy. Go to Adjust - Blur - Gaussian. Set to 4. Change the Blend Mode to soft light. Duplicate the copy tube.

Paste, as a new layer, the bow with ribbon. Move it to the stitch line of slat 2. Give it the same drop shadow last used.

Paste, as a new layer, the little bird. Give it the same shadow you just used, but change the blur to 4. Place it above the xo circle. I then copied one of the x's. Deleted it and re pasted it, to make it look like the bird was carrying it in it's beak. (see my tag)

Make sure you've deleted all the template layers you don't need.
