Best Friends




A working knowledge of psp is assumed.

SUPPLIES NEEDED

Four tubes of choice, all from the same artist.
I am using the works of Caron Vinson which can be found at CDO.

Font - 2Peas Precious One  (try HERE)



NOTE: This tutorial is written for the supplies I used. If you choose to use something different, some settings may need to be altered.

IPL = In Palette Layers

REMINDER: After using each template layer be sure to delete it, unless otherwise stated. 



LET'S BEGIN



Open the template and supplies in PSP. Duplicate and delete the original template.
IPL, delete the credit and shadow layers.
 
Click on the blue rectangle. Select all - float - defloat. New raster layer.  
In your foreground color palette click the pattern  tab and locate paper 1. Keep the angle at 0, and scale at 100. Fill the new raster layer. Select none.
Repeat this step with the green rectangle, only set the scale to 50.
Again, repeat these steps this time for the yellow paper. Also, select in the pattern tab paper 2. Change the scale to 60.
Give all three rectangles a drop shadow. I used H & V = 1. Opacity = 60. Blur = 4. Color is black.

IPL move the circle outline to just above the circle bg. Right click the outline and merge down.
Select All - float - defloat . New raster layer. Fill with this color, 8ccb94. Drop shadow. 

Click on the circle. Select All - float - defloat. New raster layer. Find paper 3 in your pattrn tab. Set scale to 50. Fill new raster layer. Select none.

Click on the four circles. Select All - float - defloat. New raster layer. Fill with this color, 8ccb94. Select none. Go up to Effects - 3D - Inner Bevel. Settings: Bevel = 2. Width = 31. Smoothness = 100. Depth = 5. Ambiance and shininess = 0.

Click on the green strip.  Select All - float - defloat. New raster layer. Fill with this color, 8ccb94. Select none. Drop shadow.

Click on the white strip. I chose to leave it white, then went to Effects - Texture effects - Weave. Settings: Gap size = 1. Width = 2. Weave = white. Gap color is 73b979. Check fill gaps. Do this once more, only change the Width size to 1.

Make a gradient color. Foreground color is 80c286, and background color is f4faf5. In the foreground click on the gradient tab. Settings: Style = Linear. Angle = 0. Repeat = 1.

Click on the circle fill layer. Select all - float - defloat. New raster layer. Fill each circle fill with the gradient color. Select None. IPL, right  click the new fill layer and duplicate. Click on the top layer. Go to Adjust - Blur - Gaussian - set to 4. IPL right click and merge down to first fill layer.

Paste, as a new layer, each of your tubes. Make sure they are behind the white circle layers. You may have to play around with resizing each image so they are all about the same size and their faces fit with in the circle. (see my tag) Now, click on the white circles. Use your magic wand and click inside each white circle. Selections - Modify - Expand - by 3. Invert. Now, click on each tube and delete. Select None.
IPL, click on the first tube and merge down to the next one. Then click  that one and merge down to the 3rd one. Once more right click and merge down to the last tube layer. All four tubes should be on one layer. Right click and duplicate. Click on the duplicate and go to Adjust - Blur - Gaussian - set to 4. Change the blend mode to soft light.
Click on the white circles. Go to Adjust - Softness - Soften. IPL, right click and duplicate. Right click and merge down. Drop shadow. H & V = 0. Opacity = 25. Blur = 10. Color is black.
Make a new gradient color. Foreground color is, 9584b4. Background color is, 5c4a7b. In the foreground click the gradient tab. Settings: Style = Sunburst. Repeat = 1. Horizontal and Vertical are at 50.
Click on the butterfly. Select All - float - defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with the gradient color. Select none.
Click on the butterfly bg.  Select All - float - defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with this color, beb4d1. Select none. IPL, right click and duplicate. Give the bottom butterfly bg a drop shadow.

If you are not going to animate, then click on the top butterfly bg layer,  go to Adjust - Add/remove Noise -Add Noise. Set to 50. Check Gaussian and Monochrome.  If you are going to animate, hold off doing this.

Click on flower layer 3. Select All - float - defloat. New Raster layer. Fill with this color, 5c4a7b. Click on flower layer 2 and fill with this color,  9584b4. For layer one, fill with this color, cdc5dc. Give layer 1 a gaussian noise. Set to 20. Drop shadow each layer.

One more gradient color. Foreground color, f6ed9e. Background color, fcfbee. In foreground select the gradient tab. Settings: Style = Sunburst. Repeats = 3. Horizontal and Vertical are at 50.

Click on a yellow flower. Select all - float - defloat. New Raster layer. Fill with gradient color. Add drop shadow. H & V = 1. Opacity = 25. Blur = 4. Color is black.
Repeat these steps for all the yellow flowers.

Open your text box. Font is 2Peas Precious One. Size 20 Bold. Stroke width = 1. Leading = -0.099. Kerning = 40. Foreground and Background color is 604e7f. Type out the phrase I used or one of your own. Give a drop shadow. I used H & V =1. Opacity = 50. Blur = 4. Color is black. Place at the lower left of your tag. (see my tag)

For the name, I used the same font and settings, except the color is white. The size is 48. Type out the name. Apply. Copy and then delete. Repaste as a new Raster Layer. Move to the upper right of your tag. Select All - float - defloat- modify - expand - by 1. New Raster Layer. Fill with this color, 604e7f. Select None. IPL move the purple layer below the white. Give purple a drop shadow.

Add the copyright. If not animating, merge all layers and save.

To Animate

Click on the top layer of the butterfly bg. Adjust - Add/Remove Noise. Add Noise.  Set to 20 and check Gaussian and Monochrome. Now go to Effects - Xenofex - Constellation. Settings: Star Size = 2. Variations = 50. Edge Density = 1. Overall Density = 50. Overdrive = 100. Twinkle Amount = 40. put check in Keep original image. Right click your tag and copy merged.

Paste as a new animation in Animation shop. Go back to psp and Edit - Undo Constellation - Undo Noise. 
Go back to Add Noise and change setting to 25. Back to Constellation and click Random seed. Right click your tag and copy merge. In animation shop, right click the tag you posted and paste after current frame. 
Go back to psp and edit - undo constellation and undo noise. Go to add noise and change to 30. Go to Constellation and click random seed. Right click tag and copy merge. 
Right click tag in animation shop and paste after current frame. 
Repeat these steps one more time. Change noise to 35 and click constellation random see.
Right click tag and copy merge.
Right click tag in animation shop, paste after current frame.

Go up to View tab. Click animation. If you are satisfied with your results save tag as a mng.

To add the name, after making it in psp, paste in animation shop as a new animation. On your upper tool bar, or in the edit file, click propagate paste. Click on the name. Type Ctrl a     Ctrl c. Now click the first frame of your tag and type Ctrl a    Ctrl e. Place name at upper right of tag.  Save as a gif.
