Daisy's Winter

A working knowledge of PSP is assumed.

SUPPLIES NEEDED

Tube of choice.
I am using the beautiful gift tube, Daisy Girl, from Barbara Jensen.

Font used is Calligraph421 BT

NOTE: This tutorial is written for the materials I used. If you are using something different, you may need to adjust some settings.

IPL = In Palette Layers

Reminder: Be sure to delete all template layers as you use them, unless otherwise stated.

LET'S BEGIN

Open supplies in PSP.

Duplicate the template and delete original. IPL, delete the credit layer as well as all shadow layers. Delete the text layers as well.

Click on rectangle1. Increase it's size to 105 percent.
Click on rectangle2. Increase it's size to 125 percent. Move up a bit to the center of tag.

Click on the white background layer. Paste, as a new image, the snowflake1 paper. Apply the  bp_mergedround mask. Settings: Put checks  at Source luminance,  Fit to canvas, Hide all mask.
Layers - Merge - Merge Group.

Click on rectangle2. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Open foreground color palette. Click pattern tab. Select the swirly paper. Set angle to 0 and set scale to 70. Fill the new raster layer. Select None. Add a drop shadow. H & V = 1. Opacity = 75. Blur = 4.

Click on rectangle1. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Open foreground color palette. Click pattern tab. Select the snowflake 2 paper. Set angle to 0 and set scale to 40. Fill the new raster layer. Select None. Add a drop shadow. H & V = 1. Opacity = 75. Blur = 4.

Paste, as a new layer, the Winter Scene. IPL, move it to the layer above the square. Now reduce the opacity to about 40%. You want to be able to see the square, as well as the circle. Move the scene so that it fits into both the square and the circle. Bring opacity back to 100%. IPL, right click and duplicate. Move one of the scene layers down to just above the circle layer. (I hope this is making sense.)
Click on the circle layer. Select all - Float - Defloat - Invert. Click on the scene layer above the circle and delete. Select none. Add a drop shadow. Same as last used.
Click on the square layer. Select all - Float - Defloat - invert. Click on the scene above the square and delete. Select none. Add drop shadow.

Make a gold gradient. In your foreground color put this color, af9250. In your background color use this color, d2caa5. Back in the forground color, click the gradient tab. Settings: Style = Linear. Angle = 45. Repeats = 4.

Click on strip 2. Select all - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with gold gradient. Select none. Go to Adjust - Add/Remove Noise - Add Noise. Settings: Put check in Gaussian and Monochrome. Set noise to 10%. Add same drop shadow as before.
Repeat these steps for the square bg and the circle bg.

Make a new gradient color.
Foreground color is 276d79. Background color is b5e0e7. In the foreground color palette click the gradient tab. Settings: Style = Linear. Angle = 45. Repeats = 6.

Click on Strip 1. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with teal gradient. Select none. Go to Adjust - Add/Remove Noise - Add Noise. Settings: Put check in Gaussian and Monochrome. Set noise to 10%. Add same drop shadow as before.

I left all the snowflakes white. I moved snowflake 1 over to the left a bit to make room for my tube layer. Click on a snowflake. Select All - Float - Defloat - Modify - Expand - by 1. New Raster Layer. Fill with either the dark teal color, or the dark gold. Select None. IPL, move the color layer below the snowflake layer. Click on the snowflake. Apply the same noise settings you used for the strip 1. Go to Effects - 3D - Inner Bevel. Settings: Bevel #2. Width = 4. Smoothness = 0. Depth = 1. Ambience and Shininess = 0.
Repeat these steps for all the snowflakes, switching out two with gold  and two with the teal.

Now let's work with the tube. I love all the layers Barbara gives us to play with. I'm going to tell you what I did, but you are, of course, free to make your own choices.

Start with Daisy herself. Click on the the bottom layer of the tube. Go to Adjust - Automatic Saturation Enhancement. Settings: Bias = Normal. Strength = weak. Check Skintones present.

Unhide the wool hat layer.
Put this color in your foreground color palette. b5e0e7. Use your 'change to target' brush, set to 50%. Run your cursor over the hat once.

Unhide the gold hair bow. IPL, move the bow layer above the hat layer. Rotate to the left by 150 degrees. Place it so that it hides the pink bow. Put the gold color in your foreground color palette. af9250. Use your 'change to target' brush, set to 100%. Run your cursor over the bow to enhance the gold color.
Unhide the hair gold layer.

Unhide the blue glitter dress. Using the same color you used on the hat, run the change to target brush over the dress.
Using your lasso selection tool, carefully encircle just the skirt of the dress. With the dark gold color in your foreground color palette, use the change to target brush to recolor the skirt gold. Go to Adjust - Automatic Saturation Enhancement. Settings: Bias = Normal. Strength = normal.

Unhide the silver leggings. IPL, right click and duplicate. The duplicate should be on top of original. Click on it and change the blend mode to screen. Set the opacity to 50%. IPL, right click and merge down to original leggings layer.

At this point I feel satisfied with my tube, so IPL, right click the hair bow and merge visible. Copy your tube and paste, as a new layer, onto your tag.
Resize the tube down to 65%. Give it a drop shadow. H & V = 1. Opacity = 25. Blur = 4. Color is black.
Keeping the tube in the center of your tag, move it down about an inch. Apply thee same mask that you used for the background. Same settings. After you've merged group, move the tube up to the center and over to the left. (see my tag.)

For the name, I used Calligraph421 BT, size 48 Bold.  White in background color palette. Foreground closed. I used the same settings that I used for the snowflakes. Place at bottom of tag.

Add copyright, merge all layers, and save.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and found it easy to follow.
