Tutorial: Strike A Pose

A working knowledge of PSP is assumed.

SUPPLIES NEEDED

Tube of choice. I am using the art of Misstigri, which can be found at CDO.

NOTE: This tutorial is written for the materials I used. If you are using something different, you may need to adjust some of the settings.

IPL = In Palette Layers

Reminder: Delete the template layers once they've been filled, unless otherwise started.

LET'S BEGIN

 [Install mask and font]

Open supplies and your tube in PSP.

Duplicate template and delete original.  IPL, delete credit layer.

Click on the white background. Layers - New Raster Layer. From your foreground color palette, click the pattern tab and select paper2 (blue). Scale at 100%. Fill the new Raster Layer.
Apply the softscquare mask. Layers - Merge - Merge Group.
Resize mask down to 90%. Go to Effects - Texture - Mosaic Antique. Settings: Columns and Rows = 50. Tile diffusion = 100. Grout width = 2. Grout diffusion = 40. Check Symmetric.
IPL, right click the mask and duplicate. Click the duplicate. Go to Adjust - Blur - Gaussian blur. Set to 10. Reduce opacity to 70.

Click on rectangle 3. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. From the foreground color palette click the pattern tab and select paper 1. (red)  Keep scale at 100. Fill new layer with the red paper. Select None. Give a drop shadow. H & V = 1. Opacity = 55. Blur = 6. Color is black.

Click on rectangle 2. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. From the foreground color palette click the pattern tab and select the blue paper. Fill the new layer.  IPL Keep rectangle active. New Raster Layer. Selections - Modify - Expand - by 2. Fill with this color, 724564. Select None. IPL, move the purple layer below the blue. Give purple layer same drop shadow last used.
Repeat all these steps for the strip layer.

Click on rectangle 1. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. From pattern tab select paper 3. (flower) Fill new layer with flower paper. IPL Keep rectangle active. New Raster Layer. Selections - Modify - Expand - by 2. Fill with this color, 724564. Select None.L, move the purple layer below the flower. Give purple layer same drop shadow last used.

I decided to keep the frame as it is, so do not delete the template layer. Give it the same drop shadow we've been using.

Click on the frame fill layer. Select All - Float - Defloat. New Raster Layer. Fill with white color. Keep layer active.
Click on your tube. Go to Adjust - Automatic Saturation Enhancement. Settings: Put a check in More Colorful, and in Normal. Mirror. Copy and paste, as a new layer into your tag. Increase size up to 200. Center the tube center and slightly left. Go to Selections - Invert. Delete. Back to Selection and Invert. Go to Effects - Textures - Mosaic Antique. Use same setting as you did for the mask layer. Select None. Go to Adjust - Softness - Soften.

Click on your tube and undo the mirror. Copy and paste, as a new layer, onto your tag. Resize down to 80%. Place it to the right side of tag. (See my tag). Apply the same drop shadow we've been using.

Click on the dot layer. New Raster. Fill each dot with colors from the tag. Give same drop shadow.

Paste, as a new layer, the stick pin. Place it to the lower end of the blue strip. Drop shadow.

Paste, as a new layer, the butterfly. Place it to the upper left corner of your tag. (see my tag). Drop shadow.
To make the butterfly's swirly. Make foreground color black. Leave background color blank. Select the pen tool. Set line style to small dash. Width at 2. Starting at the bottom of the butterfly, simply draw out a swirl. (You may need to do several tries before you like it.) Layers - Convert to Raster Layer. Add drop shadow.

Add copyright and a name. Merge all layers, save.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and found it easy to follow.
